Before You Book

FAQ & Policies

Everything you need to know about booking The Chapel at Wimberley — answered honestly and upfront.

What is The Chapel at Wimberley?

The Chapel at Wimberley is a ceremony-only wedding venue nestled in the Texas Hill Country 20 minutes from Wimberley. We specialize exclusively in ceremonies — whether you're planning a traditional wedding, an intimate elopement, a micro-wedding, or a heartfelt vow renewal, The Chapel was designed with your ceremony at its heart.

We do not have a reception space. Just beautiful, focused ceremony experiences in a stunning, air-conditioned chapel setting.

How does the ceremony window work?

Your booked window — 60 minutes (Intimate), 90 minutes (Signature), or 3.5 hours (Premier) — is the total time you and your guests have on-site, from first arrival to final departure. A few important things to know:

  • No early arrival. You, your guests, and your vendors may not arrive before your window begins.
  • The ceremony itself starts partway in. The first 30 minutes are reserved for guest arrival and any setup, so plan for the ceremony to begin a bit after your window opens.
  • Cleared by the end. Everyone — including vendors — must be completely off the property when the window closes, with all decorations and personal items removed.
Do you provide a wedding coordinator?

We don't provide a dedicated wedding coordinator. Our on-site team focuses on managing the property, the sound system, and your add-ons so the day runs smoothly — we're happy to help where we can, but you're responsible for owning your ceremony timeline, cueing music, and coordinating your vendors. Many couples either hire an outside coordinator or planner, or designate a trusted friend or family member to handle the cues on the day.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Cancellation: You may cancel your booking for a full refund within 72 hours of booking. After 72 hours, all sales are final — no refunds are issued for any reason, including changes in plans or personal circumstances.

Rescheduling: You may reschedule your date one time, provided:

  • Your original wedding date is more than 6 months away at the time of your request
  • Your new date falls within 1 year of the original date
  • There is no rescheduling fee, though if your new date carries a higher price, you'll pay the difference

No-shows: Failure to arrive forfeits the booking entirely with no refund or rescheduling option.

What is your deposit policy?

We require payment in full when booking.

Is there a damage deposit?

Yes. The week of your event, we place a $200 refundable authorization hold on the card used for booking. The hold is released automatically about a week after your event if there are no issues.

The deposit may be charged in the event of property damage, failure to vacate on time, or any other breach of the venue use agreement.

Is there anything I need to do before the wedding day?

Yes — about two weeks before your event, you'll complete a short Pre-Ceremony Questionnaire so we can prepare for your ceremony. This covers your final guest count and a few logistical details about your day. We'll send it to you with plenty of notice.

How can I book a tour?

We would love to show you the venue! Visit chapeltx.com/tour to find a time to view the venue in person.

Are there any extra fees?

Our software partner FareHarbor charges a 6% booking fee. Sales tax may be charged on certain add-ons.

How many guests can I bring?

The Chapel at Wimberley accommodates up to 50 guests, including the couple but excluding infants. Vendors (your photographer, officiant, florist, etc.) do not count toward the guest limit.

For the most intimate elopements, our Intimate experience accommodates up to 6 guests (including the couple) and is available Monday–Thursday.

Are getting-ready suites included?

The Signature and Premier experiences include access to our Bride & Groom suites. For the Signature, the suites are intended for changing and final touch-ups — hair and makeup should be completed off-site before arrival (at your hotel, Airbnb, or a local salon).

The Intimate experience does not include suite access; couples and guests should arrive fully ready for the ceremony.

Do you allow outside food or drinks?

No outside food or beverages may be brought in, with two exceptions: cake and champagne for the toast.

Cake — depending on your experience:

  • Intimate — No outside cake permitted
  • Signature — Couple may bring a cake for themselves only (not served to guests)
  • Premier — Couple may bring a cake to serve to all guests

Champagne — if you've added the champagne toast to your experience, you'll need to bring the bottle(s) yourself. Due to TABC regulations, we can't purchase alcohol on your behalf — but we'll store, chill, and serve it for you on the day.

Charcuterie (Premier only) — Premier couples can arrange a charcuterie spread for their guests through The Chapel's approved charcuterie vendor. Charcuterie from other sources is not permitted.

We also offer non-alcoholic drinks as an optional add-on. All other outside food and alcohol is not permitted.

What can we decorate with?

We love seeing how couples make the space their own — but to protect the building, a few rules apply:

  • Nothing may be hung on or attached to walls, the chandeliers, or any other surface
  • No tape of any kind on the floors
  • No real candles, with the sole exception of a unity candle during the ceremony
  • Indoors, only flower petals may be thrown — no rice, confetti, or birdseed
  • Outdoors, nothing may be thrown, spread, or scattered — including flower petals
  • Outside backdrops are not permitted. Decorative backdrops are available as a venue add-on
  • Couples and vendors are responsible for removing all personal decorations by the end of the ceremony window
How does music work?

The Chapel has a sound system that you, your musician, or your DJ can connect to via AirPlay. You're welcome to bring your own playlist or have a live musician perform — both work beautifully in the space.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The chapel, restrooms (one of our two is ADA-accessible), and parking are all ADA-accessible. On-site parking is included for all guests.

What vendors am I allowed to bring?

The following outside vendors are welcome on the premises:

  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Officiant
  • Florist
  • Musician (e.g., violinist, guitarist)

No other outside vendors are permitted without prior written approval from the venue. All vendors must comply with The Chapel's rules and requirements.

Do I need to provide my own officiant?

Yes — The Chapel at Wimberley does not provide an officiant. You're welcome to hire a professional officiant or have a family member or close friend perform the ceremony. Any family member or friend can easily get ordained online free at places like American Marriage Ministries!

For legal marriage ceremonies, Texas law requires a marriage license obtained from any county clerk's office at least 72 hours before the ceremony.

Do you allow pets?

While we love animals, pets are not allowed at the venue. Only service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted.

Are rehearsals available?

No — The Chapel at Wimberley does not offer rehearsals or private venue walkthroughs.

We're happy to share the chapel's dimensions so you can rehearse at an offsite location (your hotel, Airbnb, or wherever works for you). The only opportunity to see the venue in person before your wedding day is during our designated tour times.
